Dana White explains why he isn’t counting Conor McGregor out against Floyd Mayweather

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor certainly possesses some of the best knockout power in the UFC. As Tristar gym head coach Firas Zahabi has explained it, McGregor has the ‘touch of death’ in his left hand. Meaning that if he touches you with his left hand, he will likely be able to put you to sleep.

That power has been a major factor in predictions for a fight between McGregor and undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather. While Mayweather of course is arguably the greatest boxer of all time, going undefeated throughout his entire career while displaying phenomenal defensive abilities, many believe McGregor’s power and size could present an interesting challenge for Mayweather.

UFC President Dana White spoke on GGN to discuss why the fight is so interesting given the stylistic matchup.

“At the end of the day it’s a fight,” White said. “Floyd Mayweather is 40 years old; Conor McGregor is 27. Conor’s a big dude. Floyd has trouble with southpaws; Conor McGregor is a southpaw. And Conor McGregor hits like a truck. When he hits you, you know it.

“So, in no way, shape or form am I saying Conor McGregor wins this fight. I don’t know. But it’s more interesting than people think it is. … I promise you Conor McGregor will hit him. When they fight (Mayweather) will get hit, and it will be interesting to see what happens.”

While a fight between McGregor & Mayweather is certainly not official at the present time, updates which have emerged this week indicate that negotiations for a fight between McGregor & Mayweather are moving in the right direction, and could very well result in a fight potentially being made official.
