Following the event, UFC President Dana White took to social media to send a message to fans:

White referring to the press conference, which was run by Showtime, as a “shit show” didn’t sit too well with Showtime Exec Stephen Espinoza, who fired back at White in an interview with Ariel Helwani following the press conference:

“Dana has come in with very strong ideas about how he likes press conferences run. From our perspective, the way he runs press conferences deemphasizes the fighters. It emphasizes Dana. That’s backwards. I understand that might be great for the UFC brand but our goal, strategically and philosophically, is to try to place the fighters at the center of the promotion.”

In regards to the third stop of the tour, Espinoza reflected on the press conference, stating:

“The intensity keeps increasing. It’s getting more tense and more tense all around. I think earlier I said, I wish there were 4 or 5 more dates. At this point one more date is about all it will take before this thing blows up.”

Espinoza went on to admit that things are getting dangerously close to crossing a line, and having tensions spill over:

“It’s getting right to the line, and I think that with another fighter other than Floyd, there were a couple of times tonight that could have turned into something ugly, but Floyd’s been there before.”

He concluded:

“I’m not worried about that, but I do think that Conor brought it right to the edge a couple of times.”
