Adam Martin - October 14, 2019

UFC featherweight Doo Ho Choi has accepted Cub Swanson’s offer of a rematch between the two, who previously fought at UFC 206 in the 2016 “Fight of the Year.” Following his victory over Kron Gracie at UFC Tampa, Swanson expressed interest in a rematch against Choi, who he defeated via unanimous decision back in December 2016. Swanson said he wants to give the fans a fight they want to see, and there’s no doubt that fans would love to see a rematch with Choi as the fight is considered by many to be a modern classic.

Doo Ho Choi hopes to achieve big goal before his mandatory military service begins

Tom Taylor - January 4, 2018

On January 14, in the main event of the UFC’s anticipated stop on St. Louis, MO, South Korean featherweight contender Doo Ho Choi will return to the cage for the first time since his insane 2016 loss to Cub Swanson. His opponent in this long-awaited comeback fight will be a fellow knockout artist in Jeremy Stephens. Should Choi win this fight with Stephens, he’ll vault up the UFC featherweight rankings in the direction of a title shot. And while he’ll likely need another few wins beyond Stephens to secure that shot, he’s hoping it’ll happen soon – before he’s forced to complete the two years of mandatory military service required of all South Korean men.

Doo Ho Choi Wants to Return and Fight Jose Aldo

Justin Golightly - September 8, 2017

The MMA gods are about to bless us with violence again. Last year, Doo Ho Choi earned a UFC ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus, as well as ESPN’s ‘Fight of the Year’ award, for his war with Cub Swanson. He lost to the top featherweight contender, but it was his first loss since 2010 and it was to a seriously elite fighter. Choi isn’t slowing down anytime soon, after nursing some injuries he’s ready to return to action and wants Jose Aldo. “I have almost recovered from my injuries and I’m back training. I got a shoulder injury as a result of excessive strength training and I want to apologize firstly to my fans and secondly my opponent, Andre Fili. I think Andre Fili is a great fighter, but I see he has a fight now with another opponent so I’m open to fighting someone else. There are no fighters who I really want to fight, but I want a ranked fighter next. I’m interested in a fight with Jose Aldo and I want to fight him.”

UFC 214 in Anaheim loses another anticipated fight

Tom Taylor - June 14, 2017

Earlier this month, we learned that “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung had been forced out of his UFC 214 scrap with Ricardo Lamas with a long list of severe injuries that will keep him out of training for something in the area of six months. Though he has since been replaced by red hot prospect Jason Knight, this was an undeniably disappointing twist for the UFC 214 card all the same. Now, the bad news continues. According to Robin Black, who actually also broke the news of The Korean Zombie’s withdrawal, another high profile fighter has been forced off the UFC 214 bill. That fighter happens to be the card’s other Korean featherweight, “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi.

Doo Ho Choi is determined to learn from Cub Swanson loss, promises a "new Korean Superboy"

Tom Taylor - May 17, 2017

From the early vantage point, December’s UFC 206 was widely considered to be a fairly weak card. In the end, however, the card delivered as one of the best year, making up for its lack of big names by producing some epic stoppages and perhaps the best fight in UFC history: a featherweight war between Cub Swanson and Doo Ho Choi. Despite a valiant effort against the far more experienced Swanson, Choi would lose this fight by decision, and return to South Korea with a new loss on his record, and plenty of bruises to show for it.

"The Korean Superboy" Doo Ho Choi returns at UFC 214

Tom Taylor - May 11, 2017

Yesterday afternoon, our own Chris Taylor reported that UFC 214 will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between champion Daniel Cormier, and former champion Jon Jones. The co-headliner, meanwhile, is expected to see Cris “Cyborg” Justino fight for featherweight gold, though it is not known if she’ll be fighting for an interim belt or the vacant, undisputed title. With the top end of this card now taking shape, the UFC has begun to construct the rest of the pay-per-view, and the first officially announced bout is a featherweight scrap between red hot South Korean prospect Doo Ho Choi, and Team Alpha Male staple Andre Fili. This fight was first reported by Lance Pugmire of the LA Times.

VIDEO | Artem Lobov responds to multiple callouts, reaffirms desire for Doo Ho Choi fight

Tom Taylor - May 9, 2017

When Artem Lobov stepped onto the canvas with Cub Swanson in April, he did not produce a win. He did, however earn the respect of the fans and his fellow fighters – many of whom suggested he didn’t deserve a fight with Swanson to begin with – by battling the elite featherweight for five, fun rounds. In the wake of his action-packed loss to Swanson, Lobov has received a handful of callouts from other fighters. One such fighter was UFC veteran Robert Whiteford, who is apparently in talks for an Octagon return when the UFC touches down in Glasgow later this year.

When it was first announced that the unranked Artem Lobov would be fighting the UFC’s fourth-ranked featherweight in Cub Swanson, there was widespread backlash. Many fans suggested this was an opportunity the Russian-born Irishman didn’t deserve, and one that was only being afforded to him because of his friendship MMA megastar Conor McGregor. In the end, however, Lobov silenced many of his doubters. Though he did not defeat Swanson, he battled the elite featherweight for five, wild rounds, and even won the first in the eyes of many spectators. With this gutsy performance, Lobov earned the respect of the MMA community, validated his spot on the UFC roster, and set himself up for more big opportunities as a UFC featherweight.

"The Korean Superboy" Doo Ho Choi has Become a Super Man

Tom Taylor - February 14, 2017

Last December, on the main card of UFC 206, “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi and Cub Swanson engaged in one of the most thrilling scraps of all time. For three, frenzied rounds, prospect and veteran pelted each other with heavy artillery, hammering each other’s jaws and leaving ours on the floor. Given how exciting he looked in his last fight, fans have been hungry for the return of The Korean Superboy ever since. Given this, it’s easy to understand why there was such excitement when reports recently began to swirl that he’d be fighting former bantamweight champion Renan Barao in the main event of the UFC’s April 15 trip to Kansas City, Missouri.
