Colby Covington explains why he respects Demian Maia, but not “little b*tch” Tyron Woodley

By Tom Taylor - September 14, 2017

On October 28th, on the main card of UFC Fight Night 119 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, red-hot welterweight contender Colby Covington will battle recent title challenger Demian Maia. While Covington has repeatedly shared his confidence in the way he matches up with Maia, he actually has ample respect for the Brazilian grappling specialist. That respect does not extend to UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodleyat all.

Covington explained why he respects Maia but not Woodley on the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio.

“I’ve got to give him a ton of respect,” he said. “You’ve got guys like Tyron Woodley and Rafael dos Anjos that are straight scared bitches, and they’re just blocking me on Twitter and Instagram. I gotta commend Demian Maia and say thanks for being able to take it. This is the fight game, and sometimes there’s going to be people barking up your tree, and you’ve got to respond back. You don’t see me blocking any of the welterweights. You can say whatever you want, but it is what it is. When we get in the cage on fight night it’s a different story. I’ve got a lot of respect for Demian Maia, no matter what I say. I’m obviously going to sell the fight and promote the fight, but he’s a good dude, man, he’s all about respect. But when it comes October 28th, I’m going to have to put these hands on him to get my title shot.”

“You know what’s funny about Tyron?” Covington continued. “He blocked me on Twitter and Instagram, but he still comments about me! Like he’s commenting on the [American Top Team] page ‘Colby this…’, on Twitter ‘Colby this…’ Talking shit behind my back, but I can’t even see it. I have to have my other friends tell me what he’s saying cause he’s such a bitch, he’s not enough of a man to let me see into his profile. He’s a little bitch. He’s a fake, man. This is what I’ve been saying the whole time. The guy’s a fake, phoney champ. The way he goes about his business, it’s just not cool, you know? It’s not the right way to go about your business. So I got no respect for that guy. The guy’s a fuckin’ flamer.”
