BREAKING! Mark Hunt set to return at UFC 209 in March

By Chris Taylor - December 20, 2016

Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Mark Hunt will return to the octagon this March when he squares off with former Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem at UFC 209 in Las Vegas.

Mark Hunt, UFC Auckland

Mark Hunt was last seen in action at July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

However, due to Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test, the result of that fight was recently changed to a no-contest.

Prior to the Lesnar bout, “The Super Samoan” has earned back-to-back knockout victories over Frank Mir and Antonio Silva respectively.

Meanwhile, Alistair Overeem was most recently seen in action at September’s UFC 205 event in Cleveland where he suffered a knockout loss to current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in his bid fore the title.

Prior to his loss to Miocic, Overeem has strung together an impressive four-fight win streak which included wins over Andrei Arlovski, Junior dos Santos, Roy Nelson and Stefan Struve.

Hunt and Overeem have a history, as Alistair submitted Mark at the DREAM 5 event back in 2008 via americana.
