Mark Hunt returns in UFC Sydney main event

By Tom Taylor - August 13, 2017

On November 19, the UFC will return to sun-soaked Sydney, Australia with UFC Fight Night 121. In the main event, former UFC interim heavyweight title challenger and bona fide MMA legend Mark Hunt will return to action. His opponent will be dangerous Polish prospect Marcin Tybura.

This bout was first reported by Lowking.pl, and later confirmed by MMAJunkie.com.

Hunt (13-11-1 MMA, 8-5-1 UFC), who holds the number six spot in the UFC heavyweight rankings, will enter this fight having recently derailed the win-streak of red hot contender Derrick Lewis, who he put away with punches in the fourth round of the UFC Fight Night 110 main event. This win was preceded by a knockout loss to Alistair Overeem, and a disappointing No Contest with Brock Lesnar, which was the result of Lesnar’s multiple failed drug tests in the days surrounded UFC 200.

Marcin Tybura

Tybura (16-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who is ranked number 10 at heavyweight, was last seen in action on the main card of June’s UFC Fight Night 111, when he picked up a decision win over former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski. With this win, which stands out as the best of his career, Tybura built on the momentum of knockout defeats of Luis Henrique and Viktor Pesta.

At present, the only other bout confirmed for this UFC Sydney card is a heavyweight slobber-knocker between Rashad Coulter (8-2) and Tai Tuivasa (7-0). Coulter was last seen in action in May when he was knocked out by a Chase Sherman elbow. Tuivasa, meanwhile, will be making his UFC debut after a defeat of UFC veteran James McSweeney.
