VIDEO | Nate Diaz goes out for coffee, gets swarmed by fans

By Tom Taylor - September 18, 2017

Nate Diaz has been fighting for a very long time. Over the last few years, however, he has evolved into one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts.

Diaz’s star has grown so bright that he can apparently no longer go out for coffee without being swarmed by fight fans. Over the weekend, the UFC lightweight – yes, lightweight – shared a video to his Instagram story that shows him surrounded by excited fans. Watch it above!

“I don’t know how this happened,” he said in the video. “I just came for coffee!”

Nate Diaz hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since August of 2016, when he came up short in a tooth-and-nail battle with his fiercest rival, Conor McGregor. In his next most recent fight, he pulled off an unforgettable upset, tapping McGregor in the second-round of a fight he had just eleven days to prepare for.

Now that McGregor’s headline-dominating boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. has come to pass, all signs seem to point to a tie-breaking rematch between him and Diaz.

“I have certainly many contenders in the mixed martial arts game,” McGregor said at the May-Mac post-fight presser. “I have a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz that’s sitting there, I have options.”

Diaz’s boxing coach Richard Perez, meanwhile, has suggested it’ll cost some serious money to get Diaz back in the cage.

“At least $20 million, $30 million,” Perez said told Submission Radio. “Come on. UFC’s making a whole lot of money, a whole lot of money and they’re pocketing it. They’re giving more to McGregor, so it’s not fair because it takes two in that ring to draw a crowd – I mean, a good two fighters.”
