You hear it all the time that in mixed martial arts, you experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

That was no exception for UFC 210 as fighters celebrated in victory and others were down in defeat.

In the co-main event, you see the anger and confusion from Chris Weidman and his team as Gegard Mousasi was ruled the winner after reviewing the questionable knees Mousasi landed on Weidman in the second round.

In the UFC light heavyweight title fight main event between champion Daniel Cormier and challenger Anthony Johnson, Cormier was able to sink in a rear-naked choke on Johnson in the second round. “DC” finished the dangerous knockout artist with the same submission as their first title fight at UFC 187 that took place in 2015.

Many were left scratching their heads as “Rumble” decided to try and wrestle Cormier in the first round where his KO power is most ferocious. Even Johnson’s coaches who were yelling at him to stop wrestling and did not understand what got into Johnson.

Following the submission to Cormier, Johnson said in the ring, “I made a mistake. I made a stupid mistake.”

Walking back to the locker rooms, Johnson and coach Henri Hooft are seen hugging with Johnson in tears apologizing saying that he made the mistake. Hooft consoled “Rumble” and said, “Don’t be sorry man. We did a great thing together and we’re going to do more great things. Don’t worry about that man. Thank you for the big ride.”

Interestingly, we see Johnson and Jon Jones talking backstage and “Rumble” tells Jones that maybe one day he’ll come back and they can have their fight in the Octagon.

UFC President Dana White is also seen telling Cormier backstage, “I don’t understand why people keep doubting you.”

“I don’t know,” Cormier replied. “I don’t get it. But it’s ok.”

Although Cormier and Johnson will walk down two completely different roads following UFC 210 with “DC” looking to defend his title and “Rumble” retiring, a nice moment was caught between the two backstage as they were shaking hands.

“I appreciate you man,” Cormier told Johnson. “You’re a gentleman, man. Nothing but a gentleman, honestly.”
