For his first bout back, he’s been heavily linked to a rematch with Nate Diaz.

Ortiz Jr. improved to 20-0 with a first-round TKO over Lawson, but many fans were angry at the stoppage. Weeks appeared to stop the fight early and after the fight, DAZN’s Beto Duran said Weeks told him he saw Lawson’s eyes roll back which is why he stopped it.

The promising undefeated fighter dealt with nasty COVID-19 bouts, as well as rhabdomyolysis, which led to his inactivity. Ortiz didn’t get much time to reacclimate himself to actual competition when he faced Fredrick Lawson on January 6, and while his handiwork played a role, it was Weeks who expedited the process, and most believe he had no business stopping the fight when he did.

In the main event, Anthony Joshua scored a knockout win over Otto Wallin, while Wilder suffered a loss to Joseph Parker in the co-main.

The fight will be ten rounds and will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The two will also have a press conference in the coming weeks in London to officially announce and start the promotion for the boxing match.

While Manny Pacquiao didn’t fight anyone, he did make an important announcement about his boxing future. Standing alongside promoter Nobuyuki Sakakibara, he announced a rematch with Floyd Mayweather.
