Brendan Schaub’s bold prediction about Amir Khan’s future in the UFC

Former boxing champion Amir Khan made headlines earlier this month when he posted a picture of himself with a UFC championship belt. The photo sparked conversation about the former champ making the jump to MMA. Khan then revealed in an interview that not only was he thinking about making the jump to MMA, he wanted to fight UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor in an MMA fight.

While the idea of Khan making the jump to fight McGregor in the Octagon has some MMA fans drooling, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub thinks the matchup doesn’t make any sense. He spoke on The Fighter & The Kid podcast:

“I think that knockout jumbled some screws loose,” Schaub said on his Fighter and the Kid podcast. “He doesn’t respect the sport if he thinks that. Conor would merc him. It’s stupid. It’s a different sport. It’s stupid.”

“He has more right to fight than any of these (pro) wrestlers,” he said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if the UFC signs him and they do a freak match. He would sell more tickets than CM Punk. Why not?”

“If you’re going to do these freakshows, Amir Khan has more right than anyone else. Because the UFC, it’s really not a professional league. It’s more of entertainment. You might as well try it out. I wouldn’t be surprised.”

Do you think the fight will ever happen?
