Canelo Alvarez on Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 1: ‘Diaz didn’t beat him that night’
Canelo Alvarez, one of boxing’s biggest stars has fought in different weight classes to make the big fights happen.
With MMA’s big fight between two competitors that are usually one weight class apart, Canelo was recently asked about the rematch between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and lightweight threat Nate Diaz set for UFC 202 and the former WBC champion had something interesting to say.
“Diaz didn’t beat him that night,” Canelo told Fight Hub (transcribed by Bloody Elbow). “Conor beat himself, his overconfidence. Moving up in weight with that overconfidence, that’s what made him lose. But if he takes things seriously, I think it will be a different fight.”
Although Diaz may disagree with Canelo, it will become clear when the Octagon door closes and the two go at it on August 20.
