Heavyweight boxing legend Evander Holyfield is reportedly interested in a trilogy fight with his long-time rival Mike Tyson. Holyfield and Tyson previously met twice during the height of the heavyweight boxing scene in the 1990s. In 1996, these two met for the first time with Holyfield winning the WBA heavyweight title with an 11th-round knockout. Then in 1997, the two met in a high-profile rematch, and Tyson was disqualified after being Holyfield’s ear in the third round. 23 years later and it appears as though we finally might get some closure on this rivalry.

Heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson said that he welcomes a trilogy fight against rival Evander Holyfield if the fans want to see it. Tyson returns to the boxing ring later this month for the first time in 15 years when he takes on Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match between legends of the ring. Tyson has been sharing videos of his training for the last few months and despite being 54 years old, he looks to be in amazing shape. As for the 51-year-old Jones Jr., he has won four straight. Despite both men being in their 50s, there is definitely some intrigue to this bout.

UFC president Dana White has chimed in on talk of a potential third bout between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. Tyson has the world of combat sports buzzing with his comeback plans. “Iron” Mike has said that he wants to compete in exhibition bouts for charity. Still, a video of Tyson hitting the pads with renowned MMA coach Rafael Cordeiro has fight fans excited.

Mike Tyson has talked about returning to the ring again for charity and now he has his eyes on a familiar opponent. Recently, a training video was released of Tyson saying he’s back. Only a short while later his rival in Evander Holyfield announced his intentions to return. Immediately people wondered if we would see the trilogy.

Evander Holyfield recently sent some encouragement to his former training partner Andy Ruiz Jr. Ruiz famously delivered the first loss of Anthony Joshua’s professional career to become the new unified heavyweight champ early in 2019. He beat the British fighter by technical knockout in the seventh round of their June bout, claiming the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles in the process.

While making an appearance for Sirius XM’s Fight Nation’s Defining Moments of the Decade Show, former heavyweight boxing legend Evander Holyfield revealed he would like to work with Dana White and be a part of Zuffa Boxing.
