Gennady Golovkin was able to score a razor close decision victory over a very game Daniel Jacobs last night on pay-per-view.

The boxing match was nothing short of awesome as ‘GGG’ and Jacobs traded punches back and forth until the final bell, thus leaving the decision in the hands of the judges.

In the end, Golovkin was awarded to the decision win with two judges scoring the contest 115-112 and the other seeing the fight 114-113.

While many fans and analysts scored the fight for Jacobs, Daniel can take some solace in the fact that he snapped GGG’s knockout streak.

The deciding factor in the fight may have very well been the one knockdown that Golovkin scored in round four. Check it out below.

Daniel Jacobs was not at all happy with the judges ruling stating the following after the loss.

“I think I won the fight, the fans think I won the fight… This is boxing they probably want the bigger fight with him (Gennady) and Canelo (Alvarez).”

A bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez has been talked about for a long time now and is desired by almost every boxing fan out there.

Canelo Alvarez

With that said, GGG’s performance last night on pay-per-view was not his best, which could further detour Canelo Alvarez and his Golden Boy crew from staging the highly desired super fight.

If a fight between Alvarez and Golovkin fails to come to fruition, there is no denying that a GGG vs. Daniel Jacobs rematch would sell.
