Billy Joe Saunders suffered a severe eye injury in his loss to Canelo Alvarez and his career is now in jeopardy, according to a recent report. On Saturday night, Saunders and Alvarez took one step closer to unifying the 168-pound division. It was a massive fight and early on, Saunders had success. Yet, as the fight wore on, Alvarez started to go to the body and then landed a beautifully timed uppercut that landed flush on the eye of Saunders.

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn explained why Billy Joe Saunders did not get off the stool for round nine vs. Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night. Saunders took on Alvarez on Saturday night in a massive boxing event at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The fight was fairly competitive throughout, but Alvarez was slightly up on points at the end of the eighth round. After the round break was over, Saunders chose to not get off the stool and the fight was called. According to Hearn, Saunders broke his orbital bone and his team made the decision not to let him go back out for round nine.

Fights broke loose in the crowd during Saturday night’s boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders in Dallas, Texas. Alvarez and Saunders met in the main event of Saturday’s big boxing event at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, the biggest sporting event since the coronavirus pandemic began last year, as over 73,000 people packed into the stadium to watch two of the best boxers in the world go to war. It was a very competitive match for as long as it lasted, though Alvarez was likely winning on points before the fight was stopped due to eighth-round retirement.

Paul and Usman have been going back-and-forth on social media as of late, with Paul challenging Usman after he finished Ben Askren in boxing, and with Usman responding by accepting the challenge after he knocked out Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261. According to Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, a pay-per-view boxing match between Paul and Usman could do upwards of 3 to 4 million PPV buys, so both men have some interest in it.

Billy Joe Saunders says the issue with the ring size for his fight against Canelo Alvarez on Saturday has been resolved. Saunders and Alvarez were set to fight at AT&T Stadium in a unification bout of the super-middleweight titles. It was a fight many fans were eager for as it would be a tough test for the Mexican. Yet, on Tuesday, it was revealed the size of the ring was an issue as an 18-foot ring was installed, not the 24-foot ring expected. That forced Saunders’ dad, Tom, and team to say they are out of the fight.

Alvarez and Saunders were set to fight at AT&T Stadium in a unification bout of the super-middleweight titles. It was a highly-anticipated fight as Saunders was considered to be Alvarez’s toughest test, but unfortunately, just days away it has been revealed the fight is off. It is due to a ring size dispute as Alvarez put in an 18-foot ring, while most fights are in a 24-foot ring which was a problem for Saunders.

ESPN confirmed on Monday that the former NFL star will be competing at the June 6 event in what will be an exhibition match consisting of either four or six rounds. The opponent has yet to be determined. The event goes down in Johnson’s last NFL stomping ground, the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Former heavyweight boxing champion Andy Ruiz Jr. survived a second-round knockdown and went on to defeat Chris Arreola via unanimous decision. Ruiz Jr. hadn’t fought since December 2019, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Anthony Joshua in their rematch. Since that time, Ruiz Jr. has taken his conditioning a lot more seriously than he used to earlier in his career, having dropped over 50lbs in preparation for this bout against the veteran Arreola. Ruiz entered the fight as a gigantic -2000 betting favorite and while he did end up getting his hand raised by unanimous decision, he had some sketchy moments during the fight including getting knocked down.

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva believes that YouTubers are disrespecting boxing and he hopes that changes going forward. Silva is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time and he also has professional boxing experience, having had two fights over the course of his legendary combat sports career. In June, Silva will return to the boxing ring when he takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in what is his first boxing match since 2005. For Silva, he has been boxing for over 20 years and has always made it known that he wanted to return to the squared circle one day. He will get that opportunity next month when he takes on Chavez Jr. in a pro boxing match.

Getting back into the ring with Jones Jr. reignited Tyson’s passion for the sport and he has said that he wants to step back into the squared circle once again this year. Despite turning 55 years old in June, Tyson is still in tremendous physical shape and he showed in the Jones Jr. fight that he still hits hard. That’s whay he wants to challenge himself and step back into the ring for another fight.
