Report: Manny Pacquiao Set To Retire From Boxing, Will Focus On Presidential Run
Is Manny Pacquiao’s boxing career coming to an end? It appears to be.
According to Top Rank leader and longtime promoter Bob Arum, who talked to TMZ, the Filipino boxer is looking to retire from the sport in order to focus on a presidential run in his home country.
Arum said that Manny’s main goal is to become Senator, which he’ll attempt to do next year. After that, it’s on to president.
He did say Pacquiao will fight one more time next year before calling it quits. So I guess the question becomes, if this is in fact the case, who should Pacquiao fight in his last boxing match?
Amir Khan?
Pacquiao has not fought since losing to Floyd Mayweather early on in the year. That fight was hyped up as the biggest sporting event to take place in our generation, and most viewers, except for the hardcore boxing fanatics perhaps, felt like it overall was a disappointment. Especially after finding out that Pacquiao apparently went into the fight with an inured shoulder.
I guess at this point we can definitely count out any chances of seeing a rematch between them, not that there’s a huge demand for it.
Where would you rank Pacquiao on the list of all time greats? Would you even put him on the list?
