Glover Teixeira claims Israel Adesanya will have a conversation with Dana White "to get away" from fighting Alex Pereira

Cole Shelton - June 9, 2022

Glover Teixeira thinks Israel Adesanya will avoid fighting his teammate Alex Pereira at all costs. Pereira and Adesanya fought twice in kickboxing with the Brazilian winning both including one by KO. Since then, ‘The Last Stylebender’ made the move to MMA and has become a UFC champion, this while Pereira just recently got back into MMA and is now 2-0 in the UFC. The Brazilian is set to face Sean Strickland at UFC 276 on July 2 and should he win, many expect he will face Adesanya next. However, for Teixeira, he doubts the middleweight champ will accept the fight against Pereira.

Daniel Cormier laughs off Alex Pereira's callout of Jared Cannonier: "Let's be realistic"

Josh Evanoff - March 15, 2022

Following the bout, the former kickboxing champion decided to call out the number two ranked middleweight Jared Cannonier. That’s in spite of the fact that ‘Killa Gorilla’ is set to face Israel Adesanya next.

Alex Pereira believes Israel Adesanya is “scared” to fight him again: “He’s fooling his fanbase”

Harry Kettle - March 9, 2022

UFC middleweight contender Alex Pereira believes former foe Israel Adesanya is scared to fight him again. It’s become a popular part of Israel Adesanya’s story in combat sports – especially for those who don’t like him. Back in 2016 and 2017, “The Last Stylebender” twice fought Brazilian star Alex Pereira in kickboxing. In their first meeting, Pereira came out on top via decision, and in the rematch he was able to knock Adesanya out cold.

Alex Pereira says he witnessed "arrogant" Israel Adesanya "crying outside" after their rematch

Christopher Taylor - January 16, 2022

Alex Pereira claims he left Israel Adesanya “crying outside” after knocking out ‘Stylebender’ in their 2017 rematch. Pereira (4-1 MMA) and Adesanya (21-1 MMA) have a storied history having collided twice under the GLORY kickboxing banner. The Brazilian emerged victorious in both of those matchups, the second of which came via a nasty knockout (left hook).

Alex Pereira books his UFC return opposite fellow knockout artist Bruno Silva

Harry Kettle - December 22, 2021

UFC star Alex Pereira is set to take on fellow knockout artist Bruno Silva in his second UFC bout next year. The arrival of kickboxing sensation Alex Pereira to the UFC made quite a splash earlier this year. At UFC 268, after months of anticipation, he knocked Andreas Michailidis out to win his debut and take his professional mixed martial arts record to 4-1. The win led to many suggesting he could continue to build on that success and potentially even fight Israel Adesanya one day, but as we know, middleweight is the kind of division that’s pretty difficult to predict.

Alex Pereira "three fights" away from fighting Israel Adesanya, says Glover Teixeira

Adam D Martin - November 29, 2021

New UFC middleweight fighter Alex Pereira is “three fights” away from fighting Israel Adesanya for the championship, says Glover Teixeira. Pereira is a former GLORY kickboxing star who made his UFC debut earlier this month at UFC 268 in spectacular fashion when he knocked out Andreas Michailidis with a flying knee. Considering Pereira holds a previous KO win over Adesanya in kickboxing, his teammate Teixeira believes that win will help him fast-track up the 185lbs ladder and get closer to a title shot against the champ. As far as Teixeira goes, it’s possible that we could see Pereira fight for the UFC middleweight title in just three fights if he continues to look in sharp form.

Alex Pereira focused on becoming UFC champion, not Israel Adesanya: “Maybe if I had lost to him it would annoy me a little bit”

Adam D Martin - November 4, 2021

Alex Pereira is focused on becoming UFC champion, not Israel Adesanya, saying “maybe if I had lost to him it would annoy me a little bit.” Pereira is a former GLORY kickboxing standout who will be making his UFC debut this Saturday when he takes on Andreas Michailidis at UFC 268. In his kickboxing past, Pereira actually defeated Adesanya, the current UFC middleweight champion. Although Pereira is fighting against Michailidis this weekend, he can’t help but think ahead to a potential fight with Adesanya, especially when asked by the media. But Pereira also wants to make it perfectly clear that his focus is 100 percent on becoming the UFC champ, not Adesanya.

On Friday night at LFA 95, Pereira took advantage of that clause in his contract when he made his promotional debut against Thomas Powell, a fight where Pereira scored a crazy KO.

Alex Pereira believes Israel Adesanya won't fight him again, provides update to GLORY and MMA careers

Adam Martin - October 4, 2020

GLORY kickboxing star Alex Pereira believes that UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya won’t fight him again after already losing twice. Pereira is the current GLORY middleweight and interim light heavyweight champion. He is one of the top-ranked kickboxers in the world and has been for several years now. In 2017, Pereira met Adesanya in a kickboxing match at Glory of Heroes 7 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In what is still the lone KO loss to Adesanya’s combat sports career, Pereira knocked out Adesanya in devastating fashion. Pereira also defeated Adesanya via decision in 2016.
