UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski promises he will be “a whole different beast” in his trilogy fight against Max Holloway. Volkanovski defeated Holloway at UFC 245 via a lopsided unanimous decision to become the new 145lbs champion in the UFC. The promotion gave Holloway an immediate rematch, but he lost a controversial split decision at UFC 251 last summer to Volkanovski. Since then, Holloway has had another big win over Calvin Kattar in one of the most impressive performances we have ever seen in the Octagon. Holloway is set to take on Yair Rodriguez in November, but if he wins that fight, it’s fully expected that he will get another title shot.

Volkanovski spoke to MMA reporter James Lynch of LowKickMMA and was asked his thoughts on this weekend’s big fight between Woodley, the former UFC fighter, and Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer. Although Volkanovski admits that he thinks Paul is a good boxer, he believes Woodley is going to prove to be way too big of a step up in competition.

Volkanovski and Ortega are the two head coaches on the latest installment on TUF, and they will meet inside the Octagon for Volkanovski’s 145lbs title in September at UFC 266. The current season of the show still has one more episode to still air, but in the penultimate episode of the show, Ortega decided to prank his rival in a hilarious fashion.

Volkanovski is currently set to coach The Ultimate Fighter 29 opposite divisional rival Brian Ortega. The show begins airing on June 1, and the coaches’ fight is expected to happen this fall. However, it is worth noting that this fight was originally set to take place at UFC 260 in March. The fight didn’t end up happening because Volkanovski got COVID-19 and the fight had to be canceled, so the UFC went ahead and had the two coach TUF while he got better.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski reacted after he was named the coach of TUF opposite his divisional rival Brian Ortega. It was recently revealed that Volkanovski and Ortega will be the coaches of the 29th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” after their fight was postponed due to Volkanovski testing positive for COVID-19. The two were supposed to meet at UFC 260 last weekend but after the champ tested positive for the coronavirus, the fight was scratched. Rather than just re-book the fight, the UFC decided to go a different route. Volkanovski and Ortega will still fight each other this year, but only after they step into their coaching shoes on TUF 29.
