Alexander Volkanovski has hailed the impact that countryman Tai Tuivasa has had on the UFC in recent years. ‘Bam Bam’ is coming off of a knockout loss to Ciryl Gane in the main event at UFC Paris. Before that, the former rugby player amassed a run of five straight wins with five finishes and still finds himself ranked at #4 in the heavyweight division. Despite Tuivasa’s loss to the Frenchman, Volkanovski is a firm believer that his fellow Aussie is still destined for greatness.

Alexander Volkanovski is set to have surgery after suffering a broken thumb in the trilogy fight with Max Holloway. Volkanovski (25-1 MMA) vs Holloway (23-7 MMA) took place last Saturday, July 2nd at UFC 276. It was to be a victory for ‘The Great’ by unanimous decision. Although Volkanovski retained his featherweight title, he did suffer an injury during the bout.

Alexander Volkanovski thought the cut above Max Holloway’s eye should have stopped their fight at UFC 276. Volkanovski landed a big shot to Holloway’s eye that split his eyebrow into two. It was a big cut that was bleeding quite a bit, but the cutman did a very good job which allowed the fight to continue. However, Volkanovski says he saw Holloway’s bone and thinks the fight should’ve been stopped due to the cut.
