The undercard to UFC 285 continues to build, as women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has been added. ‘Bullet’ has been out of action since her clash with Taila Santos at UFC 275 last June. In that outing, the Brazilian brought the fight to the champion, who was a heavy favorite. Despite early success from Santos, Shevchenko rallied in the championship rounds.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 62, a top-six women’s flyweight bout headlined the card as Alexa Grasso took on Viviane Araujo. Grasso entered the fight undefeated at flyweight after moving up in 2020 with a decision win over Ji Yeon Kim. The Mexican then beat Maycee Barber by decision and followed it up with a submission win over Joanne Wood to earn her first UFC main event. Meanwhile, Araujo returned to the win column last time with a win over Andrea Lee and was 5-2 in the UFC entering the scrap.

In that outing, Grasso scored a first-round submission win, moving her win streak to three. She had previously captured victories over Ji Yeon Kim and Maycee Barber.

UFC president Dana White spoke highly about flyweight Alexa Grasso, saying that “we thought she was going to be the Ronda Rousey of Mexico.” Grasso had a phenomenal performance at UFC 258 this past Saturday as she was able to win a unanimous decision over Maycee Barber in the co-main event. With the win, Grasso improves to 5-3 overall in the UFC, including a perfect 2-0 mark since moving up to flyweight. After struggling to go on a winning streak while fighting at 115lbs, it appears the young Mexican fighter has figured out that her proper weight class is at 125lbs. If she looks as good as she did against Barber, the 27-year-old Grasso could make a run for the flyweight belt.

Grasso met Barber, the UFC’s No. 10-ranked flyweight contender, in the co-main event of UFC 258 on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Despite being ranked five spots below Barber heading into the matchup, Grasso ultimately came out on top, handily winning the first two rounds of their three-round fight to capture a well-deserved decision victory.

Tonight’s UFC 258 pay-per-view event was co-headlined by a women’s flyweight bout between Maycee Barber and Alexa Grasso. Barber (8-2 MMA) had entered tonight’s co-main event in hopes of rebounding from her first career loss as a professional. ‘The Future’ had suffered a unanimous decision setback to veteran Roxanne Modafferi in her most previous effort at UFC 246. Prior to the loss, Maycee had gone a perfect 8-0 in her young career, which included three stoppage wins under the UFC banner.

Bad news, fight fans. A planned bout between strawweight contenders Claudia Gadelha and Alexa Grasso has been removed from the UFC 246 bill. The fight’s removal from the card is due to a weigh-in issue on Grasso’s part. Shortly after Gadelha made weight for the fight, Grasso tipped the scales at 121.5, well over the 116-pound limit for their fight.

UFC women’s strawweight contender Alexa Grasso is reportedly open to making a move up to the flyweight division following a majority decision loss to Carla Esparza at UFC Mexico. According to an article from UFC.com, Grasso wants to fight at UFC South Korea this December in Busan. That’s the card headlined by Brian Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie, which was recently announced as the main event.
