Alexander Gustafsson continues to call out Jon Jones: “who would you fight if not me?”
Earlier this week, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was handed a 15 month suspension by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, retroactive to late July of 2017. This means that Jones will be able to fight again by November, if he so chooses. Ever since this announcement, Jones’ former opponent Alexander Gustafsson has been calling him out.
Alexander Gustafsson, to remind, gave Jon Jones his toughest test to date at UFC 165 in 2013. In fact, many fans feel Gustafsson did enough to earn the win over Jones.
Alexander Gustafsson made his latest callout of Jon Jones on Instagram.

“Who would u fight if not me champ [Jon Jones]” the Swede said on Instagram. “That’s the only fight that makes sense right now! Why wait let’s do it.. let me beat u one more time.”
Gustafsson also called Jones out earlier this week, imploring him to join him in the cage to give the fans another war.

“Congratulations [Jon Jones] I’m really glad u are back,” Alexander Gustafsson said after Jones’ suspension was announced. “[Daniel Cormier] is aiming for Brock [Lesnar] .. so let’s give the fans another legendary fight for the belt.”
Unfortunately for Alexander Gustafsson, Jon Jones hasn’t been particularly receptive of this callout. While it’s not out of the question, Jones seems to be more interested in other bouts, like the chance to reclaim the light heavyweight title from reigning champion Daniel Cormier, or the opportunity for a super fight at heavyweight.
Whatever the case, the former champ seems excited to get back in there.
“It’s difficult to express myself at this moment but I can definitely say my heart is filled with gratitude and appreciation,” Jones said on Twitter after his suspension was announced. “I want to thank all of you who have stood by me during the toughest stretch of my life.”
