Yesterday, in the co-main event of the UFC’s return to Germany, Sweden’s Alexander Gustafsson and Poland’s Jan Blachowicz went at it in an intriguing light heavyweight showdown.

The opening moments of the bout saw Blachowicz, who was a sizeable underdog, find some success on the feet, though this only forced Gustafsson to shift gears and utilize his ever-underrated grappling. This trend continued for the bout’s duration, as Blachowicz would score with his strikes, only to be taken down and controlled by his towering foe. The end result, then, was a clear-cut unanimous decision win for the Swede, who had not won a fight since March of 2014.

Despite their competitive scrap, the two light heavyweights rendezvoused post-fight to share a beer, as seen in the video above. The video was shared to Gustafsson’s official Facebook page and captioned:

Jan Blachowicz you are a great fighter and a true gentleman. Thank you to all my fans for all the support. I really needed this.”

Gustafsson was quick to refer to Blachowicz as as his “Polish friend” when the fight was first announced. Evidently, the pair’s friendship was not hurt by their battle.
