UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has indicated he won’t stay quiet if he’s able to beat Petr Yan at UFC 273. As part of the early Q2 schedule for the UFC, Aljamain Sterling will defend his 135-pound title against Petr Yan in their highly anticipated rematch on April 9. The contest will follow on from their UFC 259 encounter which, controversially, ended in a disqualification win for Sterling that handed him the championship.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling continues to ruffle feathers after giving himself a “Dagestani beard”. In the lead-up to UFC 273, Aljamain Sterling is going all out in an attempt to get into the head of Petr Yan. “Funk Master” is the one holding the belt but given how their first fight was going before Yan’s disqualification, it makes sense for Sterling to do everything in his power to gain an advantage over “No Mercy”.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has reacted to news that Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva failed a drugs test in December. Valieva, 15, helped the ROC to glory in the team event at the Winter Olympics earlier this week. However, while the Russian Olympic Committee may have been celebrating, the medals were not formally awarded as a result of a legal issue – which has now been confirmed to be the aforementioned drug test failure.

It was Yan (16-2 MMA) vs Sterling (20-3 MMA) with ‘Funk Master’ winning by disqualification. ‘No Mercy’ was disqualified for landing an illegal knee. “I won every exchange. You clearly didn’t watch the fight.” Aljamain Sterling took to Twitter responding to fans suggesting he got “beat up”.

As the countdown continues to his highly anticipated rematch with Petr Yan, it appears as if Aljamain Sterling is ready and willing to step on the gas when it comes to the promotion of the fight. Everyone knows these two men don’t particularly like each other and after the recent trash talk between the two, which has included Sterling accusing Yan of cheating, it seems as if things are going to step up a notch heading into UFC 273.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has clapped back at Sean O’Malley after ‘Suga’ criticized his ‘star power’. Sterling (21-3 MMA) was slated to rematch Petr Yan (16-2 MMA) in co-main event of UFC 272 this coming March. However, after Max Holloway was forced to withdraw from the proposed event headliner with featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski, the promotion decided to push the Yan-Sterling rematch back to UFC 273, this instead of moving the highly anticipated bantamweight title unification bout to main event status.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling trolled his rival Petr Yan with his latest injury news, joking that “doc says back in 2023.” Sterling defeated Yan at UFC 259 earlier this year via fourth-round DQ after the Russian was disqualified for throwing an illegal knee to the head of a grounded opponent. It was the first time in UFC history that a belt changed hands following a disqualification, with Sterling being crowned the new UFC bantamweight champion after Yan lost his belt. The two were then supposed to fight at UFC 267 in October in a rematch, but Sterling was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury. Instead of Yan vs. Sterling, the UFC called upon top contender Cory Sandhagen to step up on short notice. Yan ended up beating Sandhagen via unanimous decision in what was the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 267.

The 10-fighter list was voted on by journalists Brett Okamoto, Marc Raimondi, Carlos Legaspi, Mike Coppinger and Jeff Wagenheim.

Yan defeated Cory Sandhagen via unanimous decision in the co-main event of this past Saturday’s UFC 267 card. The fight was absolutely phenomenal as both men went back and forth for the entire 25 minutes in one of the best fights of the year. But at the end of the five rounds, it was Yan who ended up getting his hand raised with three 49-46 scorecards.
