All fighters but one make weight for UFC on FOX 23 event
All the fighters set to compete on the UFC on FOX 23 event took to the scales on Friday in Denver, Colorado for the official weigh-ins with every fighter on the card except for one making weight.
Marcos Rogerio de Lima stepped on the scales well over the limit at 209.6 pounds for his light heavyweight bout against Jeremy Kimball. De Lima will have to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Kimball for missing weight.
For the main event of the evening, Valentina Shevchenko came in on the scale at 134.4 with some weight to spare as Julianna Pena came in right at 135 for the bantamweight contest. The winner of their fight will likely be next in line to challange Amanda Nunes for her UFC women’s bantamweight title.
For the co-main event of the evening, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone stepped on the scale weighing in at 170.8 pounds while Jorge Masvidal was right at the limit weighing 171 pounds for the non-title welterweight bout. Cerrone will look get another win and put on a show in front of his hometown crowd, getting a step closer to a title fight while Masvidal is set on getting his hand raised with his eyes also on the welterweight strap.
