Amanda Nunes sends warning to Ronda Rousey: You will never get this belt back
With just days to go until UFC 207, where UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will look to make her first successful title defense when she steps into the Octagon with former champion Ronda Rousey, things are starting to heat up!
For Nunes, the fight will be her first title defense since winning the title by rocking and then submitting Miesha Tate in the main event of UFC 200 back in July. For Rousey, the fight will serve as her highly anticipated return to the Octagon, over a year after suffering a devastating KO loss at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193, where she lost the women’s bantamweight championship.
While Rousey has expressed her desire to retire leading up to the fight, she recently stated on an episode of UFC Countdown that she needs to return to the Octagon, reclaim the belt, and prove she is the best women’s fighter on the planet:
“Fighting is my life, and I need to do it again,” Rousey said. “After going through all of that, I have a much bigger point to make this time. … I have more experience (than Nunes) being under the most pressure possible, and the pressure’s different. I’m still the greatest fighter in the world.”
In her way of course is women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, who is currently on a 4-fight win streak. Nunes spoke to Fox Sports 1 about the belt, and the fight, saying:
“I’m ready to take this belt home,” Nunes said. “This is a dream right here. She had her time and she let it go. Now, it’s a huge problem because she’s not going to have this belt back ever again.”
At the present time, Bovada has Rousey as the betting favorite at -140, while the champ, is the underdog at +110.
Only time will tell who leaves Las Vegas with the women’s bantamweight championship.
