Last night’s UFC 224 event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight featuring current champion Amanda Nunes taking on surging division contender Raquel Pennington.

“The Lioness” was able to utilize some heavy low kicks throughout the course of the fight to soften up “Rocky”.

Nunes would eventually land a knee flush to the face of Pennington that had Raquel busted up and in all sorts of trouble.

When the horn sounded to spell an end to round four, Raquel Pennington proceeded to walk back to her corner and tell her coaches that she was “done”.

However, Pennington’s coaches had other ideas and instructed “Rocky” to continue fighting while adding that she could “recover later”.

Amanada Nunes would take the fight to the canvas in the fifth and final round where she proceeded to unleash some brutal ground and pound on Raquel which promoted the referee to mercifully step in and call a stop to the contest.

Following her impressive title defense, Amanda Nunes took time to throw some shad at Pennington’s coaches during last night’s UFC 224 post-fight press conference.

“Everyone must be saying a lot of bad things about them on social media, but I think she really needs to surround herself with people that want the best for her, so she can evolve in her next fights,” Nunes stated (via MMAFighting) “Unfortunately, tonight he failed.”

The UFC women’s bantamweight champion continued:

“It’s sad, because you could avoid something,” Nunes said. “She went to the hospital. It might be a bad injury for her to go to the hospital. I already asked Nina to text her to find out if she needs anything, I’m here. And it’s sad. If she didn’t have the right conditioning to fight, then the coach should have thrown in the towel, for sure. I think my coach wouldn’t let me go through that.”
