On December 30th, in the main event of UFC 207, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will look to make her first successful title defense as she steps into the Octagon for a highly anticipated showdown with Ronda Rousey. While Nunes will be riding a 4-fight win streak into the bout, Ronda Rousey will be returning to the Octagon after suffering the first loss of her career at the hands of Holly Holm back in November of 2015 at UFC 193.

With less than two weeks to go until UFC 207, unfortunate news has surfaced that UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has been forced to miss her scheduled UFC 207 media lunch due to a minor illness. While the illness forced the champ to miss the scheduled lunch, MMAFighting’s Marc Raimondi has revealed that she should be 100% for her fight with Ronda Rousey on December 30th. In the weeks after this emphatic title loss, it was unclear whether we’d ever see Tate in the Octagon again. While Nunes headlined UFC 200 with Miesha Tate, who she defeated via submission in the main event to claim the women’s bantamweight championship, she has been very open about the fact that she believes this is the biggest fight of her career, and that the fight will certainly bring her quite a bit of attention from viewers.

Rousey will take on the current champion, Amanda Nunes, in a five-round title fight at UFC 207 in December. Rousey last fought in November of 2015 where she lost for the first time in her professional mixed martial arts career. Rousey suffered a devastating knockout delivered by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in Australia.

Since losing the UFC women’s bantamweight championship to Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 193, Ronda Rousey has been on an indefinite hiatus from the Octagon. The former champ initially planned on filming several movies in Hollywood, and then returning to the Octagon. With that being said, Rousey has maintained radio silence regarding when she plans to return to the Octagon, only hinting at the subject in an interview where she stated that she wants her belt back.
