VIDEO | Amanda Nunes says Ronda Rousey blocked her on Instagram
In one week’s time, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will attempt the first defense of her title. She will do so against former champion and transcendent MMA star Ronda Rousey, who will be making her first steps into the Octagon since she was knocked out by Holly Holm more than a year ago. The two will share the main event honors of the stacked UFC 207 on December 30.
In advance of this massively hyped fight, the folks over at TMZ caught up with Nunes to discuss the fight. In this interview, they asked the champ whether this fight felt bigger than her UFC 200 showdown with Miesha Tate – the fight that saw her win the bantamweight crown. According to Nunes, it’s hard to say which fight feels bigger.
“I think it’s pretty even,” she said. “Both, yeah. Of course, Ronda Rousey is coming back. A lot of people want to see [her], the fans, everybody. This is big too. I’m happy.”
Nunes was also asked about some of Rousey’s recent Instagram posts, which show the former champion rippling with muscle, apparently having packed on some bulk for this. While Nunes said Rousey’s adding bulk doesn’t concern her, she also said that Rousey unfollowed her and that she can no longer see her posts. This, of course, insinuates that Rousey blocked her.
“I’m ok with that,” she said of Rousey’s mass gains. “Muscles don’t mean anything. I don’t look at her page anyway. She unfollowed me. I don’t know why she doesn’t follow me.”
“She unfollowed me, yeah,” the champ elaborated. “A couple days ago. I think she followed me [for a couple years], but now she doesn’t follow me, I don’t know why. It doesn’t matter. That’s why I can’t see anything, because she doesn’t follow me.”
What do you think of Rousey’s choice to unfollow Nunes? What’s your prediction for this fight? Sound off, PENN Nation!
