“I haven’t even got married yet. I think that those are future plans [to have a child]. Nina [Ansaroff] is getting closer to the ranking and I think she has a great chance of also being a champion. So she wants another couple of opportunities to see where she can get in the rankings and then we’ll decide about getting married and having kids.
Her dream is to have a kid. Her dream is also the belt but being a mother is what she really wants so we’ll see after her next two fights. If she wins or loses…if she loses, we’re having a kid *laughs*. If she wins we’ll wait another one and see if she gets to the belt. But we’ll see.”
UFC bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes and strawweight contender, Nina Ansaroff have been one of MMA’s power couples for multiple years now. Each are riding the best waves of success that they ever have in their careers to this point and they clearly plan for that to continue.
Ansaroff has gone 7-2 in her last nine outings and rides a two fight win-streak with very impressive wins over Angela Hill and Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger that have resulted in her being ranked in her division’s top 15. She doesn’t have a fight lined up at the moment as she is preparing Nunes for her big upcoming title fight at UFC 224 in Brazil against their American Top Team teammate, Raquel Pennington. A very odd situation to be in that Ansaroff and Pennington’s wife and fellow UFC strawweight to Ansaroff, Tecia Torres discussed recently.
It might be the rarest of dynamics we’ve ever seen surrounding a UFC title fight but one that Ansaroff addressed as, “not that big of a deal.”
What is a big deal though is starting a family and something that should be very exciting for the two athletes when the time finally comes.
