On Saturday, December 30, the UFC will return to Las Vegas with the stacked UFC 207. The undeniable highlight of the card will be the long-awaited return of former women’s bantamweight queen and transcendent MMA superstar Ronda Rousey, who has not been seen since she was knocked out by a Holly Holm head kick in November of 2015.
In advance of Rousey’s return, the UFC has released several big budget promos, all of which serve their desired purpose and build up this already hyped card. Unfortunately, very little love has been given to Rousey’s opponent in the buildup to UFC 207. Considering that opponent is Amanda Nunes – the current women’s bantamweight champion and a downright destroyer – that’s certainly regrettable.
Thankfully, the UFC has at least made an effort to remind fans what exactly Nunes is capable of by releasing video of her title winning decimation of Miesha Tate. This title win occurred in the main event of the landmark UFC 200, and it was a blowout.

The fight begins with Nunes stalking Tate, attempting to establish her range with jabs and leg kicks. Once she finds her range, the Brazilian lets loose with a savage onslaught of punches and knees, which eventually drive Tate to the mat in a bloodied heap. From there, Nunes easily moves into position to lock up the rear-naked choke – the same choke Tate used to win the title from Holly Holm. The tap came at the 3:16 mark of the first round.
This win marked the tenth first-round win of Nunes’ career – just one shy of Rousey’s eleven first-round wins. Considering the ferocity of the current champ, you’d think she’d be getting a little more hype as she prepares to defend her belt against women’s MMA’s biggest star.
