Anderson Silva responds to Roy Jones Jr.
This week, famed boxer Roy Jones Jr. took to social media to call out former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva for a boxing match. Jones Jr. proposed that he and ‘The Spider’ throw down in the boxing ring on the same card that Conor McGregor & Floyd Mayweather would potentially throw down on if they are able to agree to terms for a superfight.
Jones Jr. stated:
“Roy Jones vs Anderson Silva and Mayweather vs McGregor double headline card UFC invasion. Would be biggest event of all time period.”
Silva then responded with a Tweet of his own:
All a dream needs to be accomplished is someone who believes that it can be done. #JonesJrVSSilva #SilvaVSJonesJr @RealRoyJonesJr

Of course while talks of a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather fight have picked up steam over the course of the past several weeks, both Mayweather and UFC President Dana White have maintained that a fight is not official.
With that being said however, NSAC chairman Anthony Marnell recently shed some light on where negotiations are at between the two parties, saying:
“There is a lot of real stuff going on. It still seems like a long shot, but when there is a lot of money involved, people tend to figure it out. There are a lot of cooks in the kitchen, but I’m not sure if we’re going to eat.
“The Nevada Athletic Commission, in my experience, has always been well-briefed by all parties on an event or potential event that may take place in Las Vegas. We are aware of conversations and information that has been disclosed and not disclosed in the media. Whether these conversations will get to a point that a fight happens, I can’t tell you.”
“I’m confirming that real people are having real discussions,” Marnell said. “I’m also telling you my opinion as the Nevada Athletic Commission chairman that a lot of things need to get done in order to see something like this come together because there are so many parties that want to get their hands on the pot.
