Anderson Silva says he hasn’t trained in months ahead of UFC 200 fight against Daniel Cormier
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva says that he simply wants to test himself as a martial artist.
From his yearning for a catchweight fight with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor to his much-wanted rematch with current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, Silva officially has a big challenge ahead of him stepping in on two days notice to fight UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.
Silva spoke with the media on Thursday night after UFC Fight Night 90 and told the press that he has not trained in months, since having to withdraw from UFC 198 for gallbladder surgery.
“I think I’m in good shape and I don’t want Daniel or anyone else to think that I’m underestimating him or coming in to challenge a champion,” Silva’s interpreter said. “I’m here to challenge myself and I haven’t trained in a few months but I think I’m in good condition to go in there and put on a good fight.”
The fight between the champion Cormier and former champ Silva will be a three-round non-title light heavyweight bout. Will Anderson Silva remain undefeated at light heavyweight and upset Daniel Cormier on two days notice? Share your thoughts on the fight in the comment section!
