Anderson Silva talks potential rematch with Vitor Belfort

It was over 5 years ago that Anderson Silva delivered one of the most spectacular knockouts in UFC history as he dropped Vitor Belfort with a front kick in the main event of UFC 126 to retain his UFC middleweight championship.

Now, fast forward five years and the pair are both fighting different men at UFC 198 in Curitiba Brazil. Silva is slated to fight Uriah Hall, while Vitor Belfort is slated to fight Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza in what many expect to be a #1 contender fight.

During a recent interview, Silva and Belfort were asked about a potential rematch. While Silva declined to comment at first, Belfort decided to take the lead.

“I’m really focused on my goal, which is the title,” Belfort said. “When we fought, it was a big deal because we had trained together, but I knew that fight would break barriers and open new fields for the sport. Today, we’re all here enjoying the return from that fight. Anderson had a wonderful night, but the smell of his stinky feet is gone. As I said now, I’m focused on the tough challenge against ‘Jacare’ that will lead me to the title.”

After Fabricio Werdum stated that he “demand” Silva give an answer, Silva stated:

“That’s too much for my 41-year-old heart,” he said. “Let me stay quiet here. You guys want me to fight for the belt and fight Vitor … He already experienced the bad smell of my foot, so forget about it.”

Looks like we won’t get a chance to see a rematch between these two MMA legends.
