Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall this past weekend at UFC 198 in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil, however an inflamed gallbladder forced Silva off the card, and ultimately onto the operating table. ‘The Spider’ was forced to undergo surgery to have his gallbladder removed, and will be unable to train for approximately 4-6 weeks while he heals. Silva took to Instagram with an update for his fans:

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall this Saturday at UFC 198. Unfortunately for Silva, the week of the fight, he was experiencing gallbladder pain which was later diagnosed as an inflammation of his gallbladder. Silva was taken to the hospital, and had his gallbladder removed on Wednesday. Fortunately for ‘The Spider’ the recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks, giving him just enough time to prepare for a fight at UFC 200.

Tuesday night tragic news surfaced that Anderson Silva had been rushed to the hospital after falling ill. Unfortunately for the former middleweight champion, he was forced to withdraw from his UFC 198 bout with Uriah Hall this weekend due to gallbladder issues. On Wednesday, Silva underwent surgery to have his gallbladder removed, and was comfortably resting at the hospital with hopes of being released on Friday.

An update emerged late Tuesday night that Silva would need to undergo a Cholecystectomy, also known as a gallbladder removal.

A report has surfaced from Sherdog which revealed that the UFC is reportedly looking to book Anderson Silva to fight the always exciting Uriah Hall at UFC 198 on May 14th. The card is headlined by Fabricio Werdum vs. Stipe Miocic, but given Silva’s fame, the bout will likely be on the pay-per view portion of the card.
