Former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort will both be competing at tonight’s ‘Triller: Legends 2’ event in Florida. Belfort (26-14 MMA, 1-0 Boxing) is set to headline the fight card opposite former four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.

Triller Fight Club: ‘Holyfield vs Belfort’ takes place this evening on pay-per-view live from the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Tonight’s “Legends 2” event was originally slated to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. However, the fight card was moved after headliner Oscar De La Hoya was forced out due to illness, and Evander Holyfield was booked as the short-notice replacement for Vitor Belfort. California would not sanction the Holyfield vs Belfort fight to take place in its state and which resulted in the event being moved to Florida.

Former UFC champions Tito Ortiz and Anderson Silva will collide in a boxing match in the co-headliner of tonight’s ‘Triller: Legends 2’ event. The Ortiz vs. Silva contest was slated to take place at a catchweight of 195lbs. However, ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ missed weight by five pounds on Friday afternoon, leaving many to wonder if the contest would be called off.

The Triller Fight Club weigh-in results took place on Friday, and Tito Ortiz missed weight for his boxing match with Anderson Silva. The Triller Fight Club “Legends 2” card takes place this Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Ortiz has been vocal that he will have a hard time making the 195-pound weight limit for his boxing match against Silva. Right when the fight was made, Ortiz was mad that the Brazilian was making him cut all the extra weight and he has said he may not make it.

Silva is now 46 years old but he isn’t letting Father Time stop him from still competing at a high level. Last fall, the UFC released Silva following a KO loss to Uriah Hall. While many fans and media wrote him off at that point, Silva decided to make the jump into the world of pro boxing, and back in June, he picked up an upset split decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. It was a good performance by Silva, and he now takes on former UFC champion Tito Ortiz next weekend in another pro boxing match, this time for the Triller Fight Club.

Silva takes on Ortiz this Saturday night on the Triller Fight Club card headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort. The fight will be contested at a catchweight of 195lbs, meaning Silva will be going up 10lbs from his regular 185lbs weight class in MMA, while Ortiz will be cutting down 10lbs from his normal weight class of 205lbs. Although the Ortiz vs. Silva booking still seems a little bizarre on the surface, it is still a somewhat intriguing matchup between two legends of mixed martial arts, only this time it’s taking place in the ring.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor thanked former middleweight kingpin, Anderson Silva, for his advice on dealing with his broken leg. McGregor broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and he is expected to be out for the next year as he recovers from the broken limb. Silva, of course, famously broke his leg against Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December 2013. So if there is anyone who knows how to come back from a broken leg in order to have a successful career, it’s Silva.

Silva returned to boxing earlier this year when he fought and defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via split decision in Mexico. He next returns to the ring against Tito Ortiz on September 11, and should he win that fight, there will be lots more opportunities for Silva in the boxing ring. Right now, there are no bigger names in boxing than the Paul brothers, Jake and Logan, and speaking to Submission Radio, Silva praised them for what they are doing.

In the main event of UFC 126 in February 2011, Silva landed one of the most incredible knockouts in MMA history when he landed a front kick to the jaw of Belfort and put him out cold with punches. It was an amazing finish by “The Spider” and for years, Belfort has talked about wanting to have a rematch with his Brazilian rival, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Kalyl, who is 22-years-old and used to play soccer in the United Premier Soccer League, made his kickboxing debut at FightersRep 10 over the weekend in California. He was fighting Anthony Reynaga in a 159-pound fight and Silva scored an eight-second KO win. He recorded the knockout on the first kick he threw.

Ortiz will take on Silva in an eight-round professional boxing match on September 11, as part of the Triller fight card that also features Oscar de la Hoya and Vitor Belfort in the main event. Just the announcement of Ortiz fighting Silva alone was surprising, but the fact the fight was booked at 195lbs is even more surprising considering Ortiz is now 46 years old and has never weighed that little in his entire MMA career. In fact, according to Ortiz in an interview with TMZ, he is not happy that Silva has forced him to cut down to 195lbs.

MMAFighting.com’s Guilherme Cruz was the first to report that Ortiz vs. Silva is being targeted for September 11. We know that Silva had been looking for his next opponent in boxing after beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. back in June, and we knew that Ortiz was hoping to make a comeback to combat sports at some point, as well. So now we get the two legends of MMA putting on the boxing gloves and meeting in the ring this September. The bout will serve on the undercard of the Oscar de la Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort PPV event.

According to “The Spider,” he would put the aforementioned Penn, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Royce Gracie, and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira in his top-four of all time.
