Andre Fili calls for scrap with Zabit Magomedsharipov

By Tom Taylor - May 18, 2018

Dagestani featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov is one of the most hyped fighters in the UFC at present, and Team Alpha Male talent Andre Fili is hoping to fight him.

Fili made his ballsy callout of the ferocious Magomedsharipov on Twitter, suggesting the fight occur at UFC 227 in Los Angeles, California this August 4.

Fili’s callout of Magomedsharipov is particularly interesting given the difficulty the UFC seems to be having find a willing dance partner for the Dagestani talent. The promotion is even believed to have cut Yair Rodriguez from its roster after he turned down a fight with Magomedsharipov.

If this fight does occur this August at UFC 227, Fili will step into the cage on a two-fight streak, having recently authored decision wins over Conor McGregor training partner Artem Lobov and long-time contender Denis Bermudez. His last loss occurred in July of 2017, when he gave up a decision to Calvin Kattar. He’s 18-5 overall.

Magomedsharipov, meanwhile, is currently an impressive 15-1 overall. His last three wins have occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where he’s bested Mike Santiago, Sheymon Moraes, and most recently, Kyle Bochniak, who he defeated in an early frontrunner for 2018’s Fight of the Year honors.

UFC 227 will be headlined by a bantamweight title rematch between champion TJ Dillashaw, and former champion Cody Garbrandt, who is Fili’s training partner at Team Alpha Male. While a potential Fili vs. Magomedsharipov fight could occur at UFC 227 in LA, it’s also very possible that the UFC saves Magomedsharipov for their recently announced debut in Moscow, Russia, which goes down the following month, on September 15.
