Anthony Johnson weighs in on tonight’s main event scrap, says he is “getting that itch!”
Following his second-round submission loss to current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier at April’s UFC 210 event in Buffalo, knockout artist Anthony Johnson shocked fights fans by announcing his retirement from the sport of mixed martial arts.
“Rumble” had gone an incredible 12-2 over his past fourteen fights, which included first-round knockout victories over the two men competing in tonight’s UFC Stockholm main event, Glover Teixeira and Alexander Gustafsson.
Following “The Mauler’s” convincing fifth-round knockout victory over former title challenger Glover Teixiera, Anthony Johnson took to Twitter where he delivered the following message.
I'm getting that itch!
Show these boy's how to throw an uppercut the Right way!— Rumble Johnson (@Anthony_Rumble) May 28, 2017
“I’m getting that itch! Show these boy’s how to throw an uppercut the Right way!”
Anthony Johnson squared off with Alexander Gustaffson in the main event of UFC on FOX 14 back in January of 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden. “Rumble” needed only 135-seconds to dispose of “The Mauler” that evening, much to the distain of the Swedish fans in attendance.
More recently, at UFC 202 in August of 2016, Johnson squared off with Glover Teixeira in a bout that lasted only 13-seconds after “Rumble” flattened the Brazilian with a devastating uppercut.
Sixteen of Johnson’s twenty-two professional victories have come by way of knockout, twelve of which took place in the very first-round.
