VIDEO | Watch all of Anthony “Rumble” Johnson’s UFC knockouts
When fight fans debate the hardest hitters in MMA, there are a few names that always seem to be mentioned. Some of these names are Mark Hunt, Roy Nelson, Dan Henderson, Melvin Manhoef and Junior Dos Santos. Another name that is almost included in any hardest-hitter debate is Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Rumble has earned his reputation as one of MMA’s most dangerous strikers with a whopping 16 knockout wins, 11 of which have occured in the UFC’s Octagon.
If things had gone his way, Rumble would have won the UFC light heavyweight title with another violent knockout win this December 10, when he was scheduled to take on divisional king Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 206. Regrettably, Cormier was recently forced to withdraw from this bout with an injury. When no suitable replacement could be found for Rumble, the bout was cancelled altogether.
Given Rumble’s propensity for sensational wins, this was an undeniably disappointing twist from the perspective of a fan. Luckily, a video compilation of all of Rumble’s UFC knockouts has recently surfaced on the internet, providing fans with a great way to lessen the blow dealt by the cancellation of his next fight.
This video, which can be viewed at the top of this post, starts with the knockouts Rumble achieved as a massive member of the UFC welterweight division. These include thunderous thumpings of Chad Reiner, Tom Speer, Kevin Burns, Luigi Fioravanti, Yoshiyuki Yoshida and Charlie Brenneman. The next knockouts in this video occured at light heavyweight, where Rumble settled after a successful run outside the UFC. These light heavyweight thrashings occurred against Antonio Rogerio Nogeuira, Alexander Gustafsson, Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader and most recently, Glover Teixeira – all top flight foes to say the very least.
Which knockout win do you consider the most impressive of Rumble’s knockout-filled career? Do you think he could have knocked out Daniel Cormier if they fought as planned at UFC 206? Sound off, PENN Nation!
