Anthony Pettis releases statement regarding his cars being set on fire

Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis made headlines this week when horrific news surfaced that someone had set several of Pettis’ cars on fire in the driveway of his Milwaukee home.

Details remain scarce on who set the vehicles on fire, or why they did so, however ‘Showtime’ has now taken to social media to give a statement on the matter:

I am a fighter. I won't be defeated by this. I am also extremely confused and saddened by the events that occurred. I am grateful that no one was harmed by this cowardly act. My life as well as my loved ones were put in danger. I cannot understand why someone would want to hurt myself or my family. I will do everything I can to ensure that we find out who committed this crime and that they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I'm constantly defending my choice to stay in this city. Regardless of the crimes that have been occurring lately, this is my home. I really hope the city that I rep has my back on this one and helps by reporting anything they know about this. #teampettis #250k🔥

It was announced this week that Pettis would be stepping into the Octagon at UFC 206 in Toronto, Canada on December 10th to fight top ranked featherweight contender Max Holloway in a pivotal featherweight matchup.

Pettis recently made his featherweight debut earlier this year when he defeated Charles Oliveira via 3rd round submission at ‘UFC Fight Night: Vancouver’, snapping a 3-fight skid that saw him lose the UFC lightweight championship, and then drop a split decision loss to Eddie Alvarez, and a unanimous decision to Edson Barboza.

While Pettis was briefly linked to a bout with interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo, at the present time Aldo has expressed that he still has no plans to fight. Given that, the Pettis vs. Holloway matchup could very well determine the next #1 contender for the featherweight strap.
