UFC light heavyweight Anthony Smith has given his thoughts on Jon Jones vacating the Light Heavyweight Championship. Smith, 32, is hoping to get back to winning ways this Saturday when he squares off against rising star Aleksandar Rakic in a huge fight at 205 pounds. “Lionheart” was beaten by vetern Glover Teixeira in the fifth round of their main event in May, and ever since then he’s been itching to get back into the Octagon.

In the main event, two of the top-10 light heavyweights in the UFC go at it as Aleksandar Rakic takes on Anthony Smith. Taking to Twitter after interviewing Rohskopf on SXM Fight Nation Radio, Smith — who the word quitter can never be attributed to after seeing the beating he took against Glover Teixeira at UFC Jacksonville in May — said he believes Rohskopf isn’t a quitter.

Anthony Smith is not a fan of the way Robert Drysdale reacted after Max Rohskopf asked him to stop the bout following the second round of his fight against Austin Hubbard. Rohskopf was making his UFC debut on short notice and after the second round told his coach to end the fight nine times. Nine times. Yet, his corner didn’t do that. The referee and someone from the Nevada State Athletic Commission overheard him asking for it to be stopped and they ended up stepping in.

Smith suffered a brutal TKO loss at the hands of Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC Jacksonville. The fight was extremely controversial as Smith suffered a vicious beating in the third and fourth rounds of the fight, with the judges scoring both rounds 10-8 in favor of Teixeira. At one point late in the fight, Smith could be heard saying that he lost his teeth, and Teixeira could actually be heard apologizing to him for breaking his teeth during the fight.

Smith was beaten down in devastating fashion by Teixeira for nearly 25 minutes before the referee mercifully stopped the fight in the fifth round. The stoppage was extremely controversial, as many believed the referee or the corner of Smith should have stopped the fight after the fourth round, but Smith was left to go out there for the fifth round instead.
