Something that doesn’t seem to get talked about enough is that the UFC could be casting a mythical shadow of equality over the fans and more importantly, the fighters themselves.

While McGregor has been the main target of fan backlash following this incident, however, he did not act alone. He was accompanied by his long-time training partner Artem Lobov, who was subsequently pulled from his UFC 223 fight with Alex Caceres as a result. In the wake of this unfortunate incident, there was much speculation as to what the future would hold for Artem Lobov, who has lost his last two bouts in the Octagon. Some members of the MMA community have expected him to be released from the promotion.

Shortly after Conor McGregor and his entourage caused a scene of absolute mayhem at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY, (watch that here) reports began to surface that the Irish star had been arrested. Apparently, these reports were premature, as McGregor is not yet in custody. Artem Lobov, meanwhile, who is one of McGregor’s main training partners, and a key player in today’s fracas, has been removed from his UFC 223 undercard fight with Alex Caceres.

Over the weekend, at an action-packed ACB show in Russia, Lobov got face to face with another UFC featherweight in Zabit Magomedsharipov. Having lost his last two fights – back to back decisions losses to Cub Swanson and Andre Fili – Artem Lobov now feels that he deserves to be cut from the UFC. “Now that I have lost to Fili — and this is no disrespect to him — but now with two losses in a row, and the last loss was not exactly to the best guy out there, I feel like other people in my situation would be cut,” Lobov told Peter Carroll of MMAFighting.com. “If someone didn’t deserve to be in the UFC, in the past I was always the first guy to tell them, so now I feel like I don’t really deserve a UFC contract.
