Bellator 222 | Pros react after Adam Borics KO’s Aaron Pico
Aaron Pico was returning to the cage at Bellator 222 to take on an undefeated opponent in Adam Borics. There, the 22-year-old was looking to get back into the win column after being knocked out to Henry Corrales back in January.
Aaron Pico was also fighting under Greg Jackson for the first time, and ahead of the fight, he said he is a brand new fighter and couldn’t wait to showcase his talents. He said he planned on using his wrestling which he did and knew how important a win was.
“It’s always important to win. Every fight for me is like a world championship fight because everyone is watching me, that is how my career has always been. Everyone is watching me,” said Pico to BJPENN.com before his fight. “It is very important, just taking it one step at a time. Just stay relaxed and use my skills. I’m 4-2 but look at my competition and the cards I’m on. And, let’s be real, Adam Borics has not fought Aaron Pico. Nobody he has fought has been Aaron Pico and the skillset that I bring. I’m ready.”
Early on, the fight was going Aaron Pico’s way as he was using his wrestling to control Borics on the ground. He was ground and pounding his opponent and easily won the first round. But, in the second, as he shot in for a takedown, Borics threw a flying knee which connected. It dropped Pico and Borics finished it off via ground and pound.
The loss dropped Aaron Pico’s record to 4-3 and is now on a two-fight losing streak after this one.
And, after the shocking loss, the MMA community reacted to the fight and the highlight reel knockout.

Always tough seeing Pico take a rough loss. He did everything right until he got clipped after being rushed by a tough opponent. This is really a game of inches, I swear. #Bellator222 https://t.co/hjgdTbn7x2
