Bellator President Scott Coker On UFC/Reebok Deal: ‘They’ve Got A Situation On Their Hands’
The UFC/Reebok deal is grabbing the attention of everyone in the MMA world. Mainly because of the negative backlash stemming from fighters who claim to be losing a lot of money with the new deal.
We’ve heard from fighters and even Joe Rogan, but now we have the perspective of Bellator president Scott Coker, thanks to MMAFighting.
Coker talked extensively about the situation, but here’s an interesting highlight from the interview.
“I think they’re going to have a situation on their hands that they’re going to have to deal with.
“I will tell you this, the phone’s been ringing. I just tell people, ‘Listen. We’re not going to engage in any kind of dialogue with you on any level unless you’re a free agent. When you’re free, give me a call.'”
“Managers and fighters. A lot of questions are, ‘What’s your policy on sponsorships?’ I say, ‘Look, I can’t engage in any kind of conversation with you guys. When you’re free, give me a call.’ But the phone’s definitely been ringing.”
Do you think we will see fighters leave the UFC and go to other organizations because of this deal? According to Coker, that may be the case.
