Bellator’s Bobby Lashley Is Concerned About CM Punk’s First Fight
Former professional wrestler Phil Brooks, formerly known as CM Punk, will be gracing the octagon with his presence this year in his first mixed martial arts fight… ever. Punk will be walking into the octagon with a record of 0-0 and this couldn’t make former WWE champion Bobby Lashley any more uncomfortable.
Lashley told the media at a recent Bellator 138 press conference, “”I wish he can have a fight before going in there. I wish they could send him out to some jungle somewhere and put him in a cage and fight a nobody and see what he does.”
Punk has been training with the likes of Anthony Pettis and Ben Askren at Roufusport MMA Academy leading up to his unannounced fight. Lashley addressed the fact that Punk is training with the elite, but questions who they will put Punk up against. “I hope he does well. I know he’s at a good camp and I know the guys are saying he’s training his ass off. That’s a hard situation, because what do you do? You’ve got a guy that’s 0-0. Are you gonna bring somebody else that’s 0-0 into the UFC and give him that berth or are you gonna give him someone that’s more experienced?”
Bobby Lashley will be stepping into the cage in June at Bellator 138 when he faces James Thompson. Lashley is currently riding a five fight win-streak which spans across four different MMA promotions.
