Benson Henderson rakes in $75k in first Bellator win, made $117k in final UFC fight
Bellator lightweight Benson Henderson made $75k in a winning effort over Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire on Friday in his second fight with the Spike-based promotion since leaving the UFC.
But disclosed salary records show ‘Smooth’ made $117k in his final UFC fight in a split-decision victory over Jorge Masvidal in 2015.
Benson’s $75k salary from Bellator 160 did not include a win bonus, while the $117k he earned at UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs Masvidal breaks down into $51k to show, $51 win bonus, and $15k in Reebok sponsorship money.
Henderson made another $75k in a unanimous decision loss to welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov in his Bellator debut in April, so it appears with the deal he has, he’s making the same amount salary-wise win or lose.
‘Smooth’ left the UFC back in February and signed with Bellator immediately after his contract was up, saying at the time:
“Bellator made me an offer and I couldn’t say no.”
