Lifting The Ban, More Bellator Coverage Coming To BJPENN.COM

By bjpenndotcom - June 19, 2014

In case any of you missed the news earlier, here’s a recap of what went down with Bellator MMA. Goodbye Bjorn Rebney, hello Scott Coker.

Yes,Viacom, the huge media company that owns the majority of Bellator, has parted ways with founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. The now former CEO of Bellator released a statement about the departure earlier, stating that he and Viacom had different ideas about the direction of the company. Now, Scott Coker, the man who founded and ran Strikeforce until Zuffa purchased it will be taking over. Coker brought Strikeforce to a very high level before the promotion was gobbled up by Zuffa and the UFC.

As far as BJPENN.COM is concerned, this is a huge step in the right direction for Bellator MMA and it’s exciting to imagine what the promotion might be able to achieve with Mr. Coker at the helm. For that reason BJPENN.COM will now began to cover Bellator events again!

The prior regime’s unethical choices led to a ban of coverage here on BJPENN.COM, but the slate is clean and Bellator MMA will now be covered right here on your favorite mma news site. Here’s hoping Bellator can reach its real potential. With a major backing like Viacom and the experience and knowledge that Coker brings to the game could Bellator finally offer a real challenge to the UFC? We’ll all just have to sit back and watch.
