If Not For Scott Coker, Josh Thomson Might Be Retired Right Now
Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson most recently fought for the UFC. Now, in his next fight, he’ll be in the Bellator MMA cage. Thomson fought four times in the UFC but will now test the waters in a new promotion.
There was some controversy surrounding his departure from the UFC. The promotion came out and said they released Thomson, while the fighter says that’s simply not the case, he chose to look elsewhere.
And if it wasn’t for Bellator president and former Strikeforce president Scott Coker, Thomson says he might not even be in the sport right now.
Here’s what he told MMAFighting.
“I probably wouldn’t be as excited as I am if I didn’t know something you guys don’t know, if I didn’t know the vision of what was planned to go on. I probably wouldn’t be as excited. I may not even be fighting anymore, to be honest.”
Thomson will make his debut this Saturday at Bellator ‘Dynamite’ and will take on Mike Bronzoulis.
Think he gets it done?
