More reasons why you should tune into the Bellator double-header this weekend
It is a great time to be a mixed martial arts fan. With so many exciting events this weekend it can be difficult to catch them all.
With that being said, Bellator MMA has not one, but two events this weekend. Friday night will kick off the festivities for the promotion as Bellator 215 invades the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The very next night, the promotion will be back at the Mohegan Sun for Bellator 216.
Both nights offer a decent mix of veteran fighters as well as some up and coming prospects to keep an eye on. Names like Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo will lure the casual fans in but fighters like Michael “Venom” Page and Paul Daley will likely keep them there.
Here are some more reasons to tune into Bellator MMA this weekend, enjoy.
“The Storm” Logan Storley
Despite being in the co-main event of Bellator 215, Logan Storley is criminally underrated.
A decorated collegiate wrestler, earning All American honors four years in a row, Storley’s grappling ability is unmatched inside the cage. His striking has progressed nicely as well. So much so that seven out of his nine wins have come via some form of striking.
I’ll be tuning in Friday night to see if “The Storm” can overwhelm his opponent. You should too.
Mike “The Savage” Kimbel
If you haven’t seen Mike Kimbel fight yet then you are in for a real treat on Friday night.
At just 21 years old Kimbel is a part of the “new-breed” of MMA fighter. He is, to borrow Lex Luger’s moniker, “The Total Package” when it comes to his in-cage ability.
He is fighting a very tough John Douma who is looking forward to derailing the hype train surrounding Kimbel. This fight should be fireworks as long as it lasts.
Vitaly Minakov & Yaroslav Amosov
There is something about Eastern Europe that forges some real high level mixed martial artists.
Both Minakov and Amosov are yet to lose in their professional careers. Going 21-0 and 20-0 respectfully.
Amosov will fight UFC vet Erik Silva in a featured welterweight bout on Saturday night at Bellator 216, while Minakov will fight the aforementioned Kongo for the right to fight for the title later this year.
Paul “Semtex” Daley Vs. Michael “Venom” Page
The Welterweight Grand Prix continues on Saturday night as Paul Daley and Michael Page finally settle their score.
Yes, this fight should be going down in England. But now that the fight is just days away who really cares? We’ve all been clamoring for this fight for years.
Both men are extremely talented and both men put on a show. Throw in the bad blood and the seemingly genuine dislike they have for one another, and this fight should be a good old fashion gunfight.
