Tonight’s Bellator 281 event is co-headlined by a middleweight bout featuring Lyoto Machida taking on Fabian Edwards. Machida (26-12 MMA), a former UFC light heavyweight champion, will be looking to snap a three-fight losing skid this evening in London. ‘The Dragon’ is coming off three straight decision losses to Gegard Mousasi, Phil Davis and Ryan Bader respectively.

Paul Daley will make his final walk to the cage this evening in London when he squares off with Wendell Giacomo at Bellator 281. Daley was originally slated to face Andrey Koreshkov at tonight’s event, but the Russian was forced to pullout of the contest. ‘Semtex’ will enter the bout looking to rebound, this after suffering a defeat to Jason Jackson in his most previous effort. Prior to that setback, Daley had put together a three-fight win streak. The British standout is looking to secure one last victory before riding off into the sunset.

Bellator star Anthony Johnson has confirmed he’s aiming to get back into the cage and hopes to do so before the end of the year. After four years away from active competition, Anthony Johnson – also known as ‘Rumble’ – made a triumphant return last year when he knocked out José Augusto to progress in the Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix. He was initially scheduled to take on Vadim Nemkov in the semi-finals but unfortunately, a serious illness led to him withdrawing from the tournament.

Romero (13-6 MMA) will be looking to snap a four-fight losing skid when he takes to the cage this evening in Paris. ‘The Soldier of God’ made his Bellator debut last September, dropping a split decision to Phil Davis. The setback was preceded by three straight decision losses under the UFC banner.

Yancy Medeiros says his Bellator debut served as the first time he had fun fighting in quite some time. After losing four in a row in the UFC, he was not re-signed but quickly inked a one-fight deal with Bellator. He was set to fight back home in Hawaii against Emmanuel Sanchez and heading into the fight, Medeiros says the focus was just giving back to Hawaii and he wasn’t putting any pressure on himself to get the win.

Paul Daley has received a new opponent for his retirement fight at Bellator 281 after Andrey Koreshkov was forced to pull out. Daley, 39, is set to make his final walk to the cage next month on May 13 in London. The veteran is coming off the back of a defeat to Jason Jackson last June but prior to that, he was riding a nice three-fight win streak with his aim being to secure one last victory before riding off into the sunset.

Tonight’s Bellator 279 event is headlined by a women’s featherweight title fight featuring Cris Cyborg taking on challenger Arlene Blencowe. The bout will serve as a rematch as Cyborg and Blencowe previously met in October of 2020. That evening at Bellator 249, it was Justino emerging victorious by way of second round submission.

Scott Coker has revealed that fans will likely see a Patricio Pitbull and A.J. McKee trilogy bout in the future. The two featherweights are coming off back to back clashes with one another. Their first encounter at Bellator 263 in July 2021 saw McKee win the Bellator Grand Prix by submission. Their follow-up bout at Bellator 277 last week saw Pitbull reclaim the featherweight title via unanimous decision.

Danny Sabatello was shocked when he was left out of the Bellator bantamweight grand prix. Sabatello is 1-0 in Bellator with a dominant decision win over Brett Johns, but he still thinks he hasn’t gotten the respect he deserves. Due to recent injuries, Sabatello has to face Jornel Lugo on Friday at Bellator 278 to earn his way into the grand prix.

Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg didn’t believe she was ever going to fight Kayla Harrison. The two women’s champions were in discussions for a fight earlier this year. Following Harrison’s contract expiring with PFL, there was widespread talk that she was going to sign with either Bellator or the UFC. As a result, she was quickly linked to a bout with Cyborg. Harrison even challenged the Bellator featherweight champion to a gym fight on social media at one point.

Yancy Medeiros got his wish of fighting back home in Hawaii. After Medeiros was released from the UFC following his fourth straight loss, he made it known he wanted to fight for Bellator on one of the two Hawaii cards. After making it public, Scott Coker and Bellator gave him the opportunity to fight on Bellator 279 on Saturday in Hawaii which Medeiros is ecstatic about.

Bellator fighter Corey Anderson has proclaimed that he’s the best light-heavyweight on the planet. He’s also questioning if Dana White is regretting releasing him from the UFC. ‘Overtime’ is coming off a no-contest with Vadim Nemov last weekend at Bellator 277. The bout came to a close due to an illegal headbutt near the end of the third round. Prior to the illegal blow, Anderson was in complete control and was on his way to winning light-heavyweight gold.

Bellator featherweight champion has revealed her goal to fight Amanda Nunes again. ‘The Lioness’ and the Brazilian clashed at UFC 232 in December 2018. In a battle of champions, Nunes won via first-round knockout. Not only did Cyborg lose her UFC featherweight crown, but it was also her first defeat in 13 years.
