Phil Davis Says Signing With Bellator ‘Reignited’ His Love For MMA
Following a loss to Ryan Bader, former UFC light heavyweight Phil Davis says he was unable to come to terms with the UFC regarding a new contract and ultimately made the choice to sign with Bellator MMA. A move he now credits with reigniting his passion.
The light heavyweight is gearing up for this Saturday’s Bellator ‘Dynamite’ event, where he’ll make his debut and be a part of the four man, one-night tournament to determine the next title challenger.
Ahead of this weekend he spoke with MMAJunkie about his move to the new promotion.
Here’s what he said:
“It was a really weird fight for me (against Bader); obviously I want to win every competition, but in my head it was just kind of a weird fight. Now, fighting for Bellator, I feel like just my preparation reignited my love and passion for the sport. I’m very thankful – not that it was necessarily a bad opportunity before, but I think it’s a better opportunity where I’m at now.”
