Shamrock Defends ‘Fun Fight’ Against Kimbo Slice
When Bellator MMA announced that Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock would fight one another at “Bellator 138: Unfinished Business” on June 20th, the MMA community split on opposite sides. One side was extremely excited to see the fight, while the other claim the fight between 51 year old Shamrock, and 41 year old Slice, was irrelevant at this point in time, and not worth watching.
Ken Shamrock is defending the bout from people who aren’t taking the bout seriously, saying he has earned the right to fight for “fun”.
He spoke at a recent Bellator 138 press-conference.
“Over the years, I’ve been training and keeping myself in shape and staying fit. I’ve earned the right to be able to fight for fun, and I think a lot of people have a hard time understanding that I don’t want to go fishing, and I don’t want to go hunting. […] I like being in the room with a bunch of dudes getting ready for a fight, training, building camaraderie, patting each other on the shoulder, preparing for a fight, walking into the ring, competing, winning, walking out, and enjoying a good time together. To me, that’s the best thing in life. I love that.”
